Monday, 19 September 2011 17:10

Today (19th September 2011) Proper Games received a welcome visit from the Rt Hon David Willetts, UK Minister for Universities and Science.

At their Dundee Studio, the BAFTA winning games developer had the opportunity to discuss a number of important industry related issues.  It was a great chance to not only highlight the company’s success and objectives moving forward, but equally explain their increasingly growing essential relationships with both the education sector and neighbouring Developers.  Of particular interest to the Minister was hearing about the innovative collaborations with the University of Abertay and also the recently established AppyNation consortium.

Earlier in the day, Proper Games were delighted when the Minister confirmed that they have been awarded a grant through the Prototype Fund.

Over the next two months, Proper Games will host their Prototype Fund project.  This will involve a team of six graduate students gaining vital industry experience by being based in the studio and working alongside the Proper team on an exciting development title.

Commenting on today's visit, Paddy Sinclair (CEO) added "It was a genuine pleasure meeting the Rt Hon David Willetts.  I feel very proud of how our company has grown over the last few years and I relish such opportunities to tell our story and showcase the quality of work that our talented team are producing.  Receiving confirmation of the Prototype Fund is really great news and we look forward to getting this project underway".

During his visit, the Minister was given the chance to play the latest game release from Proper Games on the iPad – Yo Deshi™.  Having already received glowing reviews, the studio eagerly awaits this award winning title’s release on the iPhone.  The development team watched on as the MP tackled this entertainingly challenging game that has been described as the game of ‘Mental Martial Arts’.
